first post - introduction

Okay, since this is my first on here I should probably tell a little bit about myself. I’m Hannah, a 19 year old who moved from America to Thailand with my family just over three years ago. My parents decided they were being called to go to Thailand as missionaries to which I responded very enthusiastically until I realized they were serious. Backing out wasn’t really an option since I was only 16 so I had to learn how to “let go and let God.” I now realize that God wasn’t only calling my parents. The experiences I have had here I wouldn’t trade for anything (as long as you don't mention Taco Bell).

Now we’re running a children’s home with 25 Thai kids. The kids bring so much joy to everyday life and God is so obviously working in each and every one of their lives (and mine too) and sometimes that's very uncomfortable for all of us. I’m the type of person that doesn’t like to step out of my comfort zone but here that’s been necessary for survival (I promise I'm not dramatic). I've realized that the hard parts of life are where you grow the most.

I want to show people a little portion of my life and how I see God in everyday situations. The things He’s teaching me as I’m willing to submit my will to His. It’s really amazing to be able to learn about other cultures and how people interact in them. I’ll definitely be able to share ways that we’ve failed in understanding the culture and how that’s led to embarrassment but also growth. God pulls a lot of good from situations that have no good in them standing alone.
